The Historic Gateway Neighborhood has emerged as the
up and coming visitor destination district for Downtown Cleveland.
Five Hotels, with 1000 rooms, provide a unique dimension for
the neighborhood and are very compatible with adjacent housing
developments.
The Radisson Hotel at Gateway opened in July 1998.
This 141 room full-service hotel is adjacent to the United Church of
Christ national headquarters. Special features include an interior
garden court and fountain, the "Amistad Room," and the Church House
meeting room. Additional meeting rooms were added on the ground
floor of the historic Electric Building along Prospect
Avenue.
In late 1999 the 143-room Holiday Inn Express and
Suites opened in the historic Guardian Building at 629 Euclid. This
impressive early steel skyscraper, finished in 1895, is clad in
sandstone and is the first Holiday Inn designed in a historic
building anywhere in the United States.
In 2000, the Colonial Marketplace development opened
including a 180-room Marriott Residence Inn as the anchor tenant in
the seven-building Colonial complex which includes two grand
historic arcades. Cleveland's place as a center of arcades - great
interiors built in the tradition of the light courts of Europe - is
enhanced by this $30 million historic preservation
development.
The Hilton Garden Inn on Carnegie Avenue near
East 9th Street opened in 2002. This 240-room new
construction is an architectural gem incorporating the prominent
Power Brake Building. This early 20th century structure includes a
conference center and meeting rooms. A unique feature of the hotel
is a sky lounge overlooking Jacobs Field.
Whether your plans include business travel, personal
travel or you're just looking for a special weekend getaway, the
Historic Gateway Neighborhood offers an unique array of hotel
options.
